The COE has published notice that on January 2, the dams gates will be closed and the water level in Lake Barkley will quickly rise.  It is currently (Wednesday, the 30th at noon) at 355.7' msl or just a foot or so above winter pool.  Closing the gates is anticipated to raise the Lake water level to 370' msl.  If you have lawn furniture, personal property, canoes, etc along the shoreline you should consider moving them to higher ground.  All walkways to the docks will be under water in the near future.   Remember the top of the dam is 375' msl and the high water 4 years ago reached 372' msl.  Time to make sure your docks and play toys are ready for the high water.
