I am often asked by Sellers if home improvements will result in higher sale prices. Usually this dicussion concerns new appliances, new carpets, new roof. Certainly big ticket items. My advise is that you seldom get all of your money back on these types of improvements. Generally, these changes will make the home look better and that often means it will be under contract sooner. Putting $10,000 of new applicances in a kitchen seldom will result in generating a higher offer by that amount.
But some home improvements do make a difference and they do not have to be expensive improvements. Realty Times has an outstanding article that will give you some ideas how on how to improve your chances of a higher offer on your home. CLICK HERE to read the article.
